Head Men's Basketball Coach, University of St. Thomas (Houston) · coaching since 2015
- Multiple conference championships
- Repeated NCAA postseason appearances
- NCAA Elite Eight, 2026
Families are not simply enrolling in another AAU program. They are putting their child into a development environment led by a college head coach who has spent years teaching, evaluating, recruiting and developing players.
The goal is not to promise every player a college opportunity. It is to help players understand what their next level requires, where they are strong, and what they need to improve to be ready for it.
Coached by people who have lived the game at the college level: current University of St. Thomas assistant coaches and current and former college players from Anthony's program.
- Current college coaching experience — teaching, player development, scouting and recruiting
- Former and current college players who know the standards and terminology first-hand
- One connected message: every coach teaches the same development philosophy
- Direct experience of what school and college coaches value: skill, decisions, defence, competitiveness, communication, reliability
Five areas, every player
Skill Set
Shooting, passing, dribbling, finishing and footwork: the physical tools players need to execute the game.
Defensive Understanding
Recognising defensive responsibilities, rotations and systems well enough to apply them in whatever system a school coach runs.
Offensive Understanding & Spacing
Where to be, why spacing matters, and how to use individual skill inside a team offense.
Advantage Basketball
What an advantage is, how to recognise when the offense has created one, and how to make the right decision once it exists.
Communication, Leadership & Confidence
Engaging with teammates and coaches, positive body language and leading others, so players grow as teammates as well as individuals.
Practices are where we learn. Games are benchmarks.
Teach in practice. Test in games. Evaluate. Return to practice and improve.
- About five months, roughly March through July
- Practices on Monday and Wednesday evenings
- Local tournaments for every team, plus a G1 circuit option for selected high school players
- Tryouts in January and February
I love the game of basketball, and I love working with young people who are invested in becoming good players. Medina Basketball exists to give those players the teaching, structure and opportunities they need to keep getting better and prepare for the next level of their game.
